Son of slain Indo-Canadian man in custody
( Dec 09 2009 )

Son of the Indo-Canadian man, killed in Calgary Monday night, has been taken into custody by the police, who, it believes, may throw light on the case.

60-year-old Harinder Singh was assaulted in his home. He was taken to a Calgary hospital where he later died of his injuries late Monday night.

Police have been looking for his 30-year-old son for questioning in the whom it described as being “a person of considerable interest at this time.”

The older man was found "suffering from significant trauma" at about 1:20 a.m. on Monday at a home on Castleglen Way N.E. by the police. A domestic dispute is believed to have led to the man's injuries.

Police hoped the victim's 30-year-old son, not named, can help it piece together what happened inside the home.

The son driving a 2000 purple Honda Civic with Alberta licence plate YZW 915 was located following a tip in the southwest community of Kingsland on Tuesday around 11pm.

He was taken into custody shortly afterward without incident.

No charges have been announced.
