An Indo-Canadian man has moved the Bombay high court seeking quashing of the domestic violence cases filed by his wife, also a Canadian citizen.
He has also sought the court's permission to fly back to Canada.
A look out notice is in force against the Indian-born Canadian citizen, presently working with a Pune-based company.
After their marriage in India in February 1994 after a courtship of nine years, the husband had immediately moved to Australia and the wife had joined him there six month later. The couple has a nine-year-old daughter born in Canada.
The wife had complained of physical and mental torture immediately after her pregnancy. She alleged that the husband treated her cruelly after a post pre-natal test revealed that she was pregnant with a girl child.
The couple moved back to India in 2007 after the husband took up a job in Pune. In 2008, the wife lodged a complaint with the social service branch of the Mumbai police and alleged harassment by her husband.
